WedgeWise help

Last updated 28 August 2026

WedgeWise is built to be listened to rather than looked at. This guide covers what each part of the app does, so you can set it up once and then leave the phone in your pocket.

Before you start

The five tabs

TabWhat it is for
PracticeTimed routines that run a whole session for you, drill by drill.
Short GameChipping, pitching, flop and sand — technique reading and scored games.
PuttingPutting technique and putting games, solo or against someone.
NotesVoice notes you record for yourself.
ProfileYour progress, the Short Game Index, voice settings and history.

Practice — routines

A routine is a timed sequence of drills. Pick an area — Putting, Short Game or Warm-Up — then pick a routine. Each one shows how many blocks it contains and roughly how long it runs.

Once it starts, the app tells you what to do, counts the block down, and moves you on. You will hear which drill you are on (“drill 3 of 8”) so you can keep track without looking. At the end you get a completion screen with your elapsed time, and Save & Finish writes the session to your history.

If you leave a routine part-way through, nothing is saved for it. Sessions are recorded on completion.

Short Game

Three sections, chosen with the selector at the top:

Some technique sections are still being written. Where that is the case the app says so plainly rather than showing an empty page.

Putting

Laid out the same way — Technique, Solo and Multiplayer. The technique section is a full read-through of putting method; the games are drills with a score attached.

When you finish a solo game you get your score and, once you have enough history, your personal percentile — how this round compares with your own previous rounds of the same game. It is measured against you, not against other players.

Pressure Cooker is the head-to-head putting game: after each round you tap what actually happened — both made, both missed, or one of each — and the app keeps the scoreboard.

Notes

Tap to record a voice note, and it is saved on your phone for you to play back later. Useful for capturing a swing thought while it is fresh.

The first time you record, iOS asks for microphone access. If you decline, the rest of the app still works normally — only this tab needs it. You can change your mind in iOS Settings → WedgeWise.

Swipe a note to delete it. Notes live in the app’s own storage on your device, are included if you back your iPhone up, and are never uploaded anywhere.

Profile

Short Game Index

A single figure summarising how your short game is going, built entirely from games you have already played on this phone. It shows your overall standing, your recent form, and — once you have a second season of data — a year-on-year comparison.

It needs a reasonable amount of history before it means anything, so it stays hidden until you have played enough. Keep practising and it appears on its own.

Skill level

Sets the level the coaching is pitched at.

Voice

Adjusts how the coaching sounds: speed, pitch and volume. If the app seems too quiet even with the phone turned up, check the volume slider here first.

History

Your total sessions and total practice time, with the individual sessions listed. This is also where you clear your practice history if you want to start again.

Troubleshooting

I can’t hear anything.

Check the ringer switch is set to ring, the phone volume is up, and the volume slider under Profile → Voice is not at the bottom.

The coaching cuts out when music is playing.

That is deliberate. WedgeWise lowers other audio while it speaks and lets it come back afterwards.

My percentile or Short Game Index isn’t showing.

Both need a minimum amount of your own history before they can say anything meaningful. They appear once you have played enough.

I want to start my stats over.

Clear your practice history from the Profile tab.

Something else.

Write to us — and please include your iPhone model, iOS version and what you were doing. The app sends us no diagnostics at all, so your description is all we have.
