WedgeWise — How To
WedgeWise is built to be listened to rather than looked at. Set it up once, put the phone in your pocket, and do what the voice says.
Before you start
- Turn the volume up and set the side ringer switch to ring. The coaching is spoken audio — silent mode mutes it.
- Headphones help on a busy range but are not required.
- Nothing to connect: no account, no sign-in, and the app works in airplane mode.
The five tabs
- Practice — timed routines that run a whole session for you, drill by drill. Pick an area (Putting, Short Game or Warm-Up), pick a routine, start it, and the app tells you what to do, counts each block down, and moves you on. It announces which drill you are on (“drill 3 of 8”), and the completion screen shows your elapsed time. Save & Finish writes the session to your history — leaving part-way saves nothing.
- Short Game — three sections on the selector at the top. Technique: how to play each shot, with Basics plus Tricky Lies adjustments on top. Solo: scored practice games with targets and points. Multiplayer: the same games with someone else on a shared scoreboard.
- Putting — same layout: full technique read-through, solo drills with a score, and multiplayer. Pressure Cooker is the head-to-head game: after each round you tap what actually happened — both made, both missed, or one of each — and the app keeps the scoreboard.
- Notes — tap to record a voice note for later playback. The first recording asks for microphone access; declining leaves the rest of the app working. Swipe a note to delete. Notes stay on your device and are never uploaded.
- Profile — your progress, the Short Game Index (built entirely from games played on this phone; it appears once you have enough history), voice settings and history.
Scores and percentiles
- Finish a solo game and you get your score — and, once you have enough history, your personal percentile: how this round compares with your own previous rounds of the same game.
- It is measured against you, not against other players. More games make the percentile sharper.
Voice and settings
- Voice settings live in Profile — adjust rate and other options there to suit how you listen.
- If the coach is ever silent, check the ringer switch first. That is nearly always it.
Privacy
Everything stays on your iPhone: sessions, scores, notes and settings. No account, no analytics, no network. Deleting the app deletes the record. See the privacy policy.
